9/11/23 marks the 22nd  anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

We remember the sorrow of that day but also the dedication, commitment and strength of those who responded to the tragic events.

Rev. Billy Graham’s remarks given at the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C., on Friday, September 14, 2001,

brought hope and healing to a shocked nation. His words are still powerful and relevant more than 20 years later.

"Yes, our nation has been attacked, buildings destroyed, lives lost. But now we have a choice: whether to implode and disintegrate emotionally and spiritually as a people and a nation; or to choose to become stronger through all of this struggle, to rebuild on a solid foundation."

"We've seen so much that brings tears to our eyes and makes us all feel a sense of anger.

But God can be trusted, even when life seems at its darkest." — Billy Graham (Sept. 14, 2001).

LifeGroup Ministry Fall Kick-Off

12:15 PM in the Carlson Family Center

Our desire is to help every possible member or attender become immersed in the Word of God, prayer and fellowship. We are learning verses together, sharing what God’s Word has spoken to us and working through the material. After the lesson, we pray together and share requests. While all of this sounds simple, it is also powerful. God is at work, and we are looking forward to what God wants to do.

If you are not part of a Life Group, but would like to be, or if you have questions about what a Life Group is, plan on joining us for this informational luncheon.  Current Life Group members are asked to bring a soup to share if you’re able.  Sandwiches,  beverages and desserts will be provided.

  • Check-out our Life Groups at RBC. Relationships, practical teaching, and fun are going to happen, but you need to take the first step.

  • If you haven’t become part of one of our new life groups, we encourage you to contact Tim Quinn [tim@rockfordbaptist.org]

  • Join us for lunch after our Sunday Service for information on Life Groups or just to hear what they’ve been up to!

NOTE : Current LifeGroups are asked to bring a soup to share and we will supply sandwiches and beverages.

"The Beautiful Resurrection"  1 Corinthians 15

Have you ever had questions about the resurrection, whether or not it is true? We should all want it to be true.

1 Corinthians 15, we see that this incredible news is in fact true!

Jesus has entered into our greatest fear—death—and has defeated and overturned it forever.

And because He lives, everything has changed.  Come join us as we celebrate the Beautiful Resurrection.

Palm Sunday worship

April 2  |  11:00 AM  |  Pastor Tim Quinn

"The Alabaster Box"  John 12:1-8

Have you ever wondered how to attend to all of the competing forces around you that demand your time, attention and devotion? In this week's sermon, we watch the simple act of devotion by Mary, a disciple of Jesus. In contrast, we also watch a deceiver who, while pretending to also be devoted to Christ, is only in close proximity to Jesus for what he can get out of the relationship. Join us as we learn from Mary in her simple life of devotion.

As the others share the story of Jesus, the spirit of the competition quickly transforms into the wonderful spirit of Christmas!

Bible Study Fellowship

Meeting every Thursday beginning 9/15 | 9:10 AM at RBC

We are excited to again host the Bible Study Fellowship Bible Study for women, and it's absolutely FREE, but registration is required. [ click HERE for the link]

We believe people discover their true purpose and identity by knowing God through His Word. That is why BSF offers free, in-depth Bible studies in community for people of all ages around the world.

  • Women today face a multitude of challenges, like struggles with insecurity, broken relationships, guilt, overwork or loneliness. Countless women have found peace, comfort, hope, security and answers to life's big questions by exploring God's Word. As a group member, you will personally study Scripture and answer questions each day. Once a week, you will meet for a small-group discussion of the lesson, hear from a teaching leader how the truths of Scripture can be applied to daily life and receive comprehensive notes on the Scripture passages you studied.

Ladies with preschool children are not left out. A preschool program for children ages 0-6 is available.

  • BSF's Preschool Program gives children a biblical foundation upon which to build a love for God and spiritual matters. Loving, well-trained and committed leaders teach little ones about God and the Bible in age-appropriate ways. The leaders pray for the children and encourage them to continue learning with their registered adult throughout the week. (The preschoolers' curriculum is based on the lessons the adults’ study to help foster spiritual conversations at home.) The children also learn other important life skills, such as how to obey instructions, cooperate, sit and listen — all taught in an atmosphere of love.

This year's study is People of the Promise: Kingdom Divided

  • Good and evil kings. Passionate prophets. Prophecies that shape our modern age.

  • The Old Testament is full of theologically rich books that both recount and shape history. They also set the stage for the long-awaited Messiah, containing more than 300 prophecies covering His birth, life, death, and resurrection.

  • People of the Promise: Kingdom Divided will unpack a fascinating period in Israel’s history across 15 books, from its split into two nations, through dozens of kings and prophets and ultimately to the heartbreaking exile into Babylon.

Outdoor Worship Service | Sundays through August | 10:00 AM

SERIES

Through this series called "WAITING" I would encourage us as believers to reject how society has conditioned us to view waiting—especially when it comes to knowing God.  Over the next several months we will be studying characters in the Bible who waited well and some that waited not so well.  Your time doesn’t have to become passive, purposeless, or tedious when God seems to be absent or moving slowly.  Instead, discover how waiting is actually integral to God’s plans of life and salvation.  When we gain this perspective, these seemingly dry times of waiting can be opportunities to strengthen our hope in God and see that He is always faithful.

Click HERE for what I can expect.

If you visited with us for the 1st time, please click HERE to fill out our guest survey.

At Rockford Baptist Church our mission is to teach God's Word and model Christ in our

PLEASE NOTE

If inclement weather causes our outdoor worship services to be canceled,

we will post it here around 8:00 AM.

We want you to know that we are closely monitoring the situation with COVID-19. In circumstances like this we need to operate with faith and wisdom. We are praying that God will heal all of those who are sick and bring a quick end to the virus.

As a church we are unlike school or work; it is not mandatory to attend, so we will let you decide on whether it is best for you to join us. if you are unable to attend, we will be live streaming our 11:00 AM message on our Facebook page. If you do not have Facebook the message will also be uploaded to YouTube.

The uncertainty of this outbreak is creating anxiety in many of our workplaces, schools, and day to day activities, but we remain certain in God’s steadfast presence. Please join us in praying for those who are affected by this illness, as well as their caregivers and those who are working around the clock to minimize the impact of this virus.
“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear…” Psalm 46:1-2

Sermon Series

Pastor Justin Rowland

Though March 15

  • As we conclude this series in the book of Jonah we have seen that this book was much more than just a colorful story about a man being swallowed by a big fish; it was a tale of God’s redemption in a lost world. Through Jonah’s bizarre journey, we have seen the incredible mission of God and how it has encouraged us to follow Him wherever he sends us today!

RBCY Youth Room Renovation Fundraiser

In an effort to create a more welcoming and comfortable environment, we will be working over the coming months to renovate the JAR. Main projects will include updated seating for our teaching area, updated technology, and a new lounge area for students to hang out.

  • UPDATE: We had a great first week of our fundraiser to renovate the youth room. We are looking to raise a total of $5,000 in the month of May, but we have a match for these first two weeks, meaning everything you give is doubled! Which makes our goal $2,500! Our first week of fundraising brought in $740. Let’s max out that match this Sunday and make our youth room a little friendlier place for our students.

Baby Bottle Blessings

Assure Women’s Center (formerly Alpha Family Center) in Cedar Springs has asked our church to support them by participating in the Baby Bottle Blessings. Families are asked to take home an empty baby bottle. As you pray for the center, place your spare change, dollar bills, or checks in the baby bottle. On Father’s Day we will collect the baby bottles and return them to the pregnancy center. This is a great opportunity for us to teach our children about sharing God’s love while making a difference in the community as Alpha Family Center assists women who face a crisis pregnancy.

  • Bottles will be available at the Welcome Center in the lobby, starting May 14.

MOTHER'S DAY

Along with honoring mothers, it is our privilege to hold an infant/child dedication as part of the 11:00 am worship service.

  • This dedication is both an event and a process that focuses on celebration and commitment. Together the church and family celebrate the child being dedicated and that God for His wonderful gift. Together we commit ourselves to God to teach and nurture the child in faith. The commitment is one of the church and one of the parents, but not one of the child. The child will have his or her opportunity as they grow older and are able to personalize faith in Jesus. We look forward to that day, we recognize that there is much instruction, nurture, prayer, and love to give and life to be lived before the child is able to make that decision for Jesus.

THIS SUNDAY

NEW SERIES IN DANIEL

Pastor Justin Rowland

The book of Daniel is about how to stand out, how to thrive, in a very dark and hostile world.

You see, unlike most of the other books in the Hebrew Bible, the books setting is not in Israel,

but in the heart of an enemy, pagan Empire where God’s people have been taken captive.

Throughout our study we’ll learn that the power to make a difference

is found in the commitment to be different.

SANCTITY OF LIFE SUNDAY

January 15, 2017, celebrates Sanctity of Human Life Sunday (SoHLS). It is celebrated every year on the Sunday closest to the anniversary of the 1973 U.S. Supreme Court decisions Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton, which legalized abortion in every state for any reason through all nine months of pregnancy.

  • On January 13, 1984, President Ronald Reagan issued a proclamation designating January 22 as the first National Sanctity of Human Life Day. (January 22, 1973, was the day the U.S. Supreme Court legalized abortion-on-demand in all 50 states.) Churches around the United States use the day to celebrate God’s gift of life, commemorate the many lives lost to abortion, and commit themselves to protecting human life at every stage
